Secrets Resorts-Riviera Cancun, Mexico

When a Secrets Resort uses the term “All-inclusive” they mean it. You won’t worry about a thing once you’ve arrived at check in. Drinks, food, room service, towels, sport and fitness facilities, entertainment, world class shows, beach activities and equipment, cultural lessons, parties, dancing, you name it- it’s available and included as part of your all-inclusive booking.

Staying at a Secrets Resort will definitely make you feel like a rock star! We “rocked” our Secrets vacations back in 2015 and just recently in 2021.

Our first vacation to a Secrets resort was in March 2015. I really can’t say why we didn’t visit sooner, only that the deals and the timing just haven’t lined up as needed.

Here’s a look back at our 2015 vacation:

Secrets Capri Riviera Cancun
March 2015

We loved our stay at Secrets Capri. It was a smaller resort but easy to navigate and very full of activities. We participated in many including archery, shooting, and the standards for us: ping pong, bike tour, eating, drinking and lounging. The beach was pretty, but the seaweed was nearly unmanageable. We would attempt to relax near the water, but the tractor and loader would be working constantly to remove seaweed. Noisy and smelly- not the ideal ocean/beach experience we were hoping for. We blamed mother nature though, there really wasn’t anything further the resort could do but try to keep it clean.

It was a little ironic that in 2015 we were convinced to take a tour of another resort. In exchange for our time, we received spa credit. Who knew that nearly six years later, we’d be staying at the resort we toured on that day? The beach pictures shown above are from both resorts. The seaweed was at Secrets Capri and the beautiful, clean beach was at Secrets Maroma.

The live music in the pool demonstrates the resort’s attention to detail and providing a true luxury experience.

Secrets resorts offer many activities. There was always something going on. From painting or Spanish lessons to bike tours or a game of beach kickball, there was never an excuse to be bored.

The pool and beach areas were immaculate. These morning pictures capture the beauty and the eeriness of traveling during a world pandemic. The resort reported that they were operating at around 40% occupancy. There was a good crowd, but less popular times or locations around the resort, it seemed like we had the whole place to ourselves.

Plan your next trip to a Secrets Resort

We look forward to another trip to a Secrets Resort. Who knows when that will be or which one we will visit next, but it is definitely on our radar.

Traveling in 2021 can be a bit risky. We weren’t so much afraid of getting sick, but more of the inconveniences associated with travel regulations. Great deals can be found, but be sure to keep up-to-date on changing itineraries and health requirements. We book almost all of our all-inclusive vacations through Funjet Vacations. We’ve used them for years and have found wonderful deals through the site. They offer travel to a wide variety of locations. They also have great customer service and they have been very helpful on many occasions.

We recently heard that unfortunately, due to Covid shut downs and the tourist numbers depleting in the area, Secrets Capri was unable to stay open. AMResorts will no longer manage the property as of October, 2020. According to TripAdvisor, the resort will be under new management. Read more details from TripAdvisor HERE.
